Clothing for the golfer

Golf clothing, golf shoes, golf gloves and golf caps (baseball variety), from some of the most well known brands (Bay Hill, Callaway (example pictured above), Confidence, Greg Norman, New Hampshire, Palm Springs, and RAM).

When choosing the golf clothes you will wear when playing golf, you need to make sure the golf clothing is both comfortable and functional, it's not going to be of any help to your game if you have the latest fashion in golf clothing, but for that clothing to hinder your play due to ill fit, and/or poor ventilation.

Rules of what golf clothes to wear

There are no official rules for what you wear when playing golf, but many clubs do impose their own, therefore it is always best to check before attending a club to play a game of golf.

Dress for the occasion

Always be sure to dress for the occasion, and be mindful of potential change in the weather. Although it is not a good idea to play a game of golf in the rain, in the fact that to do so is not good for the ground, if you do, then make sure you bring suitable clothing. A cheap nylon waterproof will do, although not the hight of fashion, and takes up little room in your golf bag if not required. There are plenty of fancy waterproofs on offer, but they tend to take up a fare amount of bag space.

Golf headgear

Head gear is very important, whether in preventing the rain or wind from obscuring your vision, or the sun from blinding you, and there is a multitude of styles to suit every taste, from baseball caps to trilbys.

Golf shoes

Footwear is another very important piece of golf clothing, and again there are many styles to choose from, but whatever you wear, it is a good idea to choose golf shoes that have soles that are fairly flexible and have solid toe caps. These promote good footwork, which is a must for a good game.

Golf gloves

Golf gloves need to be a fairly tight fit, and usually only one is worn, left hand for right handed golfers, and right hand for left handed golfers. His leads to a sure grip, and thus improves ones game. To reduce wear and tare it is a good idea to get golf gloves that have an extra pad at the base of the hand. Finally, gloves should be put on by sliding them onto the fingers and thumb.
